Estimating the Value of Marx Toys Collectibles

There are a variety of reasons why we need to accurately put a price on the value of our Marx Toys collection. For some, setting or buying at an appropriate price for auction is important. Yet others seek to value their collection for insurance purposes.

Whatever the reason, we have found a few reference books that help to get the job done. Below you will find more information on these reference books that were published to provide a pricing guide for antique toy collectibles.

Marx Toys Sampler

Price: $44.75
Published: 2000
Pages: 188
This new reference and price guide presents an informative “personal” history of the former Marx Toys Company plant at Glen Dale, West Virginia, where many of the fondly remembered Marx Playsets, doll houses, and toy figures of the “baby boomer” era were created and manufactured. More than just a catalog of these ever-popular and eminently affordable toys, this book provides Marx toy collectors with new insights into the planning and production processes employed by the original “king” of American toy makers. Included are insightful interviews with a Glen Dale plant model maker and with the son of a Marx artist, along with previously unpublished photos of a number of Marx toy and figure prototypes. With publication authorized by the current owner of the Marx Toys trademark, this book provides a unique and valuable behind-the-scenes look into the production of one of America’s premier toy manufacturers.

Marx Toys Action Figures

Price: $16.66
Published: 1999
Pages: 192
Reviewers Opinion (not Mar Toys Opinion)

Tom Heaton's book is an excellent resource for Marx collectors. It is packed with interesting and informative text, clear and colorful photos, and also doubles as a much-needed price guide.

Equally impressive is how thoroughly the author researched each figure. Extensive documentation includes detailed photos of figure, accessory, and packaging variations as well as intriguing information on rare prototypes. Even better, Heaton includes a list and usually a photo of all the accessories which originally came with each figure--a goldmine of information for collectors trying to complete their toys.
